Granny's House

Purpose: The purpose of opening Granny's House, a community safe haven, was to provide a safe place for all youth living in the community to come after school for free homework help, a nutritional meal and counseling. Although the Agape Cadet Corp is already serving teens living in Clinton through their Cadet Corp program, average test scores and failing grades of all minority children living in the area dictate that more aggressive action is needed to save our future generations. So, in response to what appears to be a failing system, Jim and Mary Bryant have taken an 8 room house once lived in by Jim Bryant's mother and turned it into a neighborhood center for youth called "Granny's House. Granny's House is equipped with tutoring rooms, a library and a computer lab. Children of all ages and races come each day after school to get free help with homework assignments and attend special reading labs that are fun and informative.
